iGaming Industry Continues to Flourish in the US with $868.6 Million Revenue in April
Despite the hesitancy of many US states to embrace online gambling, those that have taken the leap continue to see remarkable growth in the industry. A recent report has revealed that in April alone, the seven states where iGaming is legal generated a staggering $868.6 million in revenue, marking a significant 32.5% increase compared to the previous year.
iGaming Sees Steady Growth in April After Record-Breaking March
According to a recent report from Casino Reports, each state that offers online gaming experienced a minimum of 25% year-on-year growth. The $868.6 million in revenue for April represents a substantial increase of over $213 million, underscoring the rapid expansion of the iGaming industry.
Although April’s figures were slightly lower than the record-breaking $900 million reported in March, industry experts remain optimistic about the sector’s performance in the coming months.
Excluding Michigan and New Jersey, the iGaming states collectively handled about $10.2 billion in gaming activities. Pennsylvania emerged as the top performer, contributing approximately $7.5 billion to the total handle, while Connecticut surpassed $1.6 billion in handle once again.
Casino Reports noted that taxable operator revenue reached $787.9 million in April, leading to $169.3 million in taxes, a significant increase of $43.9 million compared to April 2024. It’s worth mentioning that this figure excludes local taxes and tribal disbursements.
Revenue Soars Across the Board
States like Pennsylvania and Connecticut showcased impressive iGaming growth in April. Pennsylvania led the pack with $282.8 million in iGaming revenue, solidifying its position as the top online casino state. On the other hand, Connecticut witnessed intense competition between FanDuel and DraftKings, resulting in $31.6 million in gross revenue, a 38.3% increase from the previous year.
Michigan and New Jersey also reported substantial revenue figures of $248.1 million and $235.2 million, respectively.
Delaware and Rhode Island didn’t lag far behind and experienced significant revenue growth. Delaware’s iGaming operator, BetRivers, saw a remarkable increase in gross revenue to $9.9 million, almost doubling from April 2024. Meanwhile, Rhode Island’s sole iGaming provider, Bally’s, witnessed a nearly three-fold increase in revenue, reaching $9.9 million.
Overall, the iGaming industry in the US continues to show promising growth potential, with more states expected to join the online gambling bandwagon in the near future.
